Unindustria and Marposs

Thursday 23 July 2015

For over 20 years Unindustria and Marposs have been united in promoting international culture in the name of Mario Possati, enabling talented young people from Eastern Europe to perfect their education in line with international standards, giving them access to positions of responsibility in important international relations, economic, financial bodies and institutions, both in the countries of their birth and in the rest of the world.

This year, the "Mario Possati" scholarship, which is awarded to a particularly deserving student at the SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies) department of the American Johns Hopkins University in Bologna by Unindustria Bologna and Marposs S.p.A., went to Gabor Debreczeni, born in Budapest (Hungary) in 1988 but raised in a suburb of Miami in Florida.

Debreczeni studied Economics and Journalism at Yale University, graduating with honours in 2010. He also won the Yale student mathematical championships and was selected as member of the three man intercollegiate mathematics team. While still at college he worked for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal as an intern journalist. After graduating, Gabor began working as an emerging markets trader for the Jane Street Capital fund. His apprenticeship involved a period in Tokyo, followed by three years as a full-time trader in New York and London.

Debreczeni decided to return to his studies after realizing that his passion for urban planning and his training and experience in the global economy could lead to a career in the international development sector; consequently he will now begin studying International Development at SAIS, in the hope of subsequently finding a position in this sector, hopefully in one of the major multilateral development banks.
